Jackson

3 weeks after losing Watson (please see the In Memory page), his new owners returned to the Rescue and rehomed Jackson (formerly known as Todd). His background is a bit of a mystery as he was found as a stray and taken to Battersea Dogs Home. From there he went to the Rescue and then to his new home.

He was so thin and didn't like being handled. In fact he didn't really interact much for quite a while. As long as he had his toys he was happy. The new owners had to earn his trust and it took him a good while to come out of his shell.

4 years later he's a happy well-adjusted chap! He doesn't like other dogs much but he has 2 Irish Terrier pals who he enjoys going for walks with. During the past year he has had to deal with many health problems, including degenerative disc disease and a malignant tumour in his neck. As if this wasn't enough he then developed kidney stones. He was nominated for the Bravest Pet in Sussex award last year and was one of 10 runners up. This dog is one in a million and a real survivor. To celebrate his life he started his own blog in 2007 (http://jacksonsworld-jackson.blogspot.com) and he and Watson are also the inspiration behind a range of terrier greetings cards (www.foreverfoxed.com).

Jasper

After searching for a fox terrier in need of a new home, his new owners adopted 'Japser' in June 08. His previous owners had to move to America, for work reasons, and were unable to take him with them. When they initially phoned Sue Davison, she said that she had only just had a call about a dog in need of a new home in a place called 'Lye' in the West Midlands and did they know it..... well as luck would have it they only live 10 minutes away from Lye so the husband went down during his lunch break. The husband fell in love with him as soon as he saw him and when he took his wife down on the evening - she loved him too! They were able to take him there and then and haven't looked back since.

Jasper took about a week or so to settle in as he was crying at night, but they soon got him into a familiar routine and he is very settled in now. He loves going for walks in the nearby Clent Hills and adores car journeys where he can just watch the world go by out of the window. Everyone who meets him loves him, and if the wife has had a bad day at work, he always cheers her up the moment she walks in the door as he is so happy to see her. He has made their little family complete and they love him with all of their heart.

Sally

Sally is a 6 year old female fox terrier adopted last year.  She has had a bad start in life and was given up as the owner was unfit to care for her.

Her new owners couldn't get her out of the kitchen for the first few days and had a challenge getting her to trust them.  But she has made a wonderful recovery and is no longer a timid shy dog.  Instead she rules the house and has been known to put a few dogs in their place in the park!

She loves going for walks in the woods and going for a swim.  Generally the more filthy the water - the happier she becomes. She also loves to roll in unmentionable items - usually just before a long car ride - her owners have suffered many a stinky car journey.  She also loves to dig and bury items and in this photo she has just buried a treat.  She is very pleased with herself.

If you have adopted a dog from the Fox Terrier Rescue and would like them to appear on this page please email diana@shonalona.co.uk with the details and a photo.

If you would like to offer a Fox Terrier a permanent and loving home, please complete the form on the Adoptables page.

Although we list the dogs as soon as possible, we sometimes have dogs that are not shown on the website.  So please email the Questionnaire and we will keep it on file and notify you if a suitable dog becomes available.

Thank you

Wilf - has agreed with the cat to dislike eachother - has learnt new and creative ways to escape from his boundaries - challenging owners to think more 'creatively' - still manages to use his terrier charm to be called adorable and very loveable.
