PADDY Update - Paddy has been given the all-clear and is ready for rehoming - please go to the Adoptables page for further information - you can read his story below. A special THANK YOU goes to all those that kindly donated to Paddy's treatment - we are humbled by such generosity - we have been able to cover his treatment and will be using any extra to help future Special Fox Terriers. Thank you to: Miss Alberta Brusi; Mrs S Campbell; Ms Barbara Dagger; Ms Karen Hanton; Miss U Hewins; Ms Alison Hurst; Sylvia, Ami,George & Asta Kroon; The Mcdermott family; Jan Perkins & family; Ms Jackie Sullivan (If you have donated and your name has been missed, or is mispelt - please contact Diana and we will correct it immediately) This is a special request for an extra special little boy. Paddy was found abandoned on the streets of London - he was taken in by Battersea Dogs home and correctly identified as a Wire. Battersea contacted the rescue to see if they could help him - the problem being that Paddy has cataracts. A terrible inherited illness that has left him blind in one eye - the other eye had a severe case and the only option to saving his sight was with an operation to the 'good' eye. Battersea was not able to offer him this treatment and the Rescue was left to either help him or let him lose his sight permanently. Well, what a tough choice. But although our budgets are very tight - we decided that he deserved a chance and have taken him in and arranged for his operation. He was operated on this week (18 Aug 2008) and has come through beautifully. He can see! He is making a good recovery and the hospital says he is just bouncing all over the place! So we are thrilled - he will be monitored closely and hopefully his future prognosis will remain positive. We will update the site with his progress and more photos of a happy healthy dog. The problem for the Rescue is that it has left quite a hole in our resources - so we are asking for help to raise funds to cover the costs of the operation and treatment. The cost is currently over £2000 - so any support would be greatly appreciated. If you can help, please send a UK Sterling Cheque (made payable to Fox Terrier Rescue) to: Mrs P Broom,Ivy Farm, Southbrugh, Thetford , Norfolk IP25 7TJ Please write on the cheque or in a note 'For Paddy' - and the funds will be used to cover his treatment. We will update the page with further news. When he gets the all clear - he will be rehomed - but he will require an extra special home. He is approx 9 years old, neutered male that has the sweetest, most joyous temperment. |
This is Paddy at the Fox Terrier Fun Day (He had a happy day and was all bounce and energy, in fact I had to ask for help to keep him still ...)

This is Paddy at the end of August 2008 - the operation has been successful and Paddy can see. This has allowed him to enjoy life to the full - he has stepped up the activity and loves playing, running and being and all round Fox Terrier! He is also sporting a new haircut and is looking quite dapper...
We are humbled by the generous response of so many wonderful and caring people. |
